EMIENM TALKS ABOUT RELAPSE

Eminem has revealed details of his long-awaited new album, "Relapse," in an exclusive interview with Billboard, conducted via email. The set is due next spring from Shady/Interscope.

Eminem is working on "Relapse" with longtime collaborator Dr. Dre, who put his own album, "Detox," on the backburner to help bring the project to completion.

"Me and Dre are back in the lab like the old days, man," Eminem says. "Just him banging away on tracks and me getting that little spark that makes me write to it. I don't have chemistry like that with anyone else as far as producers go -- not even close. Dre will end up producing the majority of the tracks on Relapse.' We are up to our old mischievous ways ... let's just leave it at that."

A handful of songs intended for "Relapse" have leaked online, most recently "Crack a Bottle," leaving Eminem "really heated. It wasn't close to finished, and it even has me doing guide vocals for Dre as a suggestion of how he could lay his verses down. It's like someone catches you peeping in your window before you got the Spider Man costume all zipped up! Nobody is supposed to see that. We are gonna finish it up though and get it out there how it's supposed to be."

Eminem also responded to producer Swizz Beats' recent comment that he'd submitted a track for the project described as a sequel to the hit single "Stan," telling Billboard, "I haven't worked with Swizz on this album.

"There isn't a 'Stan 2,' and there won't be," he says. "Stan drove his car off a bridge and I'm not writing a song as Stan's ghost. That would just be really corny."

While working on "Relapse," Eminem was also writing his autobiography, "The Way I Am," with Sacha Jenkins. The book has received favorable reviews and has spent time in the top 20 of the New York Times hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.

"For me, writing an album is an entirely different process from making this book," he says. "The album requires a certain focus of mine that I can't really explain -- let's just say it's all I can really do while I'm doing it. With the book, the process was much more spread out, like, 'Let's get you together with Sacha for a few hours next week. Let's go thru these photos and artwork, etc.' The book was a lot more of a focus here-and-there thing as opposed to music, which totally consumes me every second."

Eminem goes into great detail in "The Way I Am" about how much he was impacted by the 2006 shooting death of fellow Detroit rapper Proof, who was one of his best friends.

"Opening the book with Proof's chapter was real important for me," Eminem says. "Everything from my past moving into my future is marked by his passing. It's sort of like life when Proof was with us, and life after -- a real dividing factor. He means more to me than a book chapter could describe, but I'm glad I was able to put him first, like he did for me so many times."

As for Shady Records' 2009 roster, Eminem says 50 Cent's delayed "Before I Self Destruct" will be out in February. "He's still working on it and getting back together with me and Dre next week to finish up," he says. "I have a couple of tracks on there with him. It's sick."

Afterward, Ca$his will release the follow-up to his 2007 "County Hound EP." Says Eminem, "People are going to be surprised what he is capable of. I produced a bunch of records on there as well."

EMINEM REMINDS 50 OF HIS GRANDMOTHER

With pictures showing up last week of Eminem at a video set in Santa Monica, CA, many rumors have started about what Eminem was actually doing. No matter what Slim Shady is up to, 50 Cent says he reminds 50 of his grandmother. "It's always a pleasure working with Em for me," 50 said on the set of his new movie "Dead Man Running." "When I leave here, I'm actually going back to the States, to Detroit, to work with him again. You know, me and Em, we work really close together. He's like a relative to me. ... He's done something for me. He's like my grandmother. He's someone that provided an opportunity for me to take care of myself when I couldn't take care of myself. My grandma did it when I was a child, and then Em provided the opportunity for me as an adult."

A new Eminem song leaked recently. "Breaking Bottles" [
listen here] features Eminem rapping over a Dr Dre produced beat.

In related news, Eminem's mother Debbie Nelson recently was interviewed as she is doing promotion for her new book on her famous son. Check out the entire interview ON da site.

AN M & M EMINEM
Ripley's Believe It Or Not! has acquired a portrait of Eminem made entirely out of M&M's candy. The portrait, made out of more than 1,000 individual peices, was made by Florida resident Enrique Ramos who used over 8 pounds of chocolate to capture Marshall Mathers in a 40"x30" piece. “Our customers have a pretty good eye for art. They won’t be disappointed by Eminem in M&M’s,” Tim O’Brien, VP of Communications for Ripley’s Believe It or Not! said, “This thing looks good enough to eat.” The Eminem, M&M, portrait will hang along side other weird art pieces like the picture of Princess Diana made from lint and a shot of Micheal Jackson made from gumballs. In related news, Eminem recently told Carson Daily on the finale of MTV's "TRL" that his new album "Relapse" would be hitting stores early next year.

RELAPSE COMING IN EARLY 2009
Eminem's latest album, "Relapse," is now headed for an early 2009 release, the Detroit rapper announced during the live three-hour sendoff to MTV's daily video countdown show, "TRL," on Sunday evening. Chatting to former "TRL" host Carson Daly on the phone from the Detroit studio where he's working on the new album, Em said, "We're looking at first quarter next year, which is probably, you know, January, February." The album was previously gunning for a late 2008 release. Em said he's "real close" to finishing "Relapse," his first studio effort since 2004's "Encore." He said he's recorded nearly 100 songs in the last couple of years, "but now we've just got to go through everything, pick the best ones and, you know, put it out." Daly asked what the feel of the new album is and where Em is drawing inspiration, but Em declined to answer, saying only that its title, "Relapse," had multiple meanings. "People just gotta hear it," he said. Along with *NSYNC and Britney Spears, Eminem was one of the stars who helped make "TRL" something of the "American Bandstand" for the Gen-Y set. Sunday's star-studded finale marked the end of a 10-year run for the show. Eminem's video for "The Real Slim Shady" was honored on Sunday as the No. 2 video in the program's history. Reminiscing on when fans filled Times Square for his appearances on the show, Em said, "You try to make sense of it all, and you do the best you can with it." "The vibe of everything was always great there," he said. "I feel like they're kind of tearing down my home." Kid Rock was another Detroit star who was launched into the stratosphere thanks to his exposure on "TRL," and his video "Bawitdaba" was named No. 6 on the show's all-time countdown. Rock appeared in the flesh on Sunday's show, and entered the "TRL" studio puffing on a cigar and drinking a cup of champagne. "If it wasn't for 'TRL,' I don't think I would have had this launching pad for my career," Rock told Daly. "I always said if my music got to the people that I think they would respond, and this was the place where it did get to the people." Sunday's "TRL" finale also included appearances by Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Beyonce, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and more. "TRL," whose letters stood for "Total Request Live," premiered in Sept. 1998. Due to waning ratings, its cancellation was announced in September.

Eminem's Relapse Delayed?Maybe Says Source

The anticipation for Eminem's new album "The Relapse" is getting bigger but will the album hit stores this year? An insider told the New York Post that they think Eminem's album will drop early next year but there is still a possibility it might come in December. "There's a 50-50 chance it will be done the end of this year," the source says "But most likely it'll be the first quarter of next year. It's great." The source also told the post "Eminem has been through a lot. He is being a perfectionist and is completely obsessive-compulsive about this album."
As previously reported, Eminem talks about the last few years in "The Way I Am," his new book recently released. At a release party for the book, Eminem also put out a new freestyle called "Im Having A Relapse". So when exactly will Eminem's "Relapse" hit stores? Only time will tell.

‘TRL’ Hip-Hop Countdown: Eminem Rules!
What kinda world would we be living in if Soulja Boy (Tell ‘em) beat out Slim Shady on TRL’s all-time greatest hip-hop hits countdown? No world I’d wanna live in, that’s fa show. The way I see it? Soulja Boy’s lucky to have even made it onto the shortlist of the show’s best-ever hip-hop videos. But the question remains… WHERE THE HULL IS LIL WAYNE? (BTW, mazel tov on that baby boy, Weezy!) I demand a recount! Damien? Get on that!
Anyway, Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” found its way to #1 on today’s countdown, Jay-Z’s classic swagger track, “Big Pimpin’” locked up #2, Outkast’s “Hey Ya” — the song that inserted “Shake it like a Polaroid picture” into the pop culture lexicon for forevskies — and Missy Elliott’s mesmerizing “Get Ur Freak On” video made #8.
Watch the highlights below, check out the rest of TRL’s greatest hip-hop videos here, and don’t miss some very special out-of-studio experiences on tomorrow’s show, at 3:30pm ET.

The finale is coming up and tommrow there reviling a big name thats gonna be there.

Eminem Confirms New Album ~~~ “Relapse”
Today was the party held by Shade 45 for the release of Eminem’s new book “The Way I Am”. During a live interview Eminem said his new album will be called “Relapse.” Eminem is known for joking around and with Dr Dre’s new album called “Detox,” it’s hard to know for sure if Slim Shady is fucking with us. Either Interscope is about to drop the “Three Headed Moster” as 50 Cent calls it. With 50 releasing “Before I Self Destruct” on December 9th, then Eminem’s “Relapse” in the first quarter of 09 and Dre’s “Detox” soon after, Interscope will for sure dominate record sales.
As we stated, the party was held for Eminem’s new book, with it hitting stores on the 21st. During the interview, Eminem did drop a freestyle, make sure you listen to it below & let us know what you think!

The Best Rapper Alive

Over 920,000 votes later, VIBE announces the winner of it’s first annual Best Rapper Alive tournament.
When VIBE decided to let the people decide The Best Rapper Alive, we just wanted to have a little fun. But with a final tally exceeding 920,000 votes, it’s safe to say we touched a nerve. Since the competition began on July 21, the NCAA tournament – style bracket sparked bedlam. T.I.? Nas? Joe Budden? Rick Ross? Decisions had to be – and were – made.
In the early rounds there were few upsets, as most of the higher-seeded competitors triumphed. Until the final eight MCs remained, it looked as though all four No. 1 seeds – Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Andre 3000 – would land in the final four. But then, the bark of underdogs could be heard in the distance.
The lesser of the two upsets took place in the Big Punisher bracket. Andre was defeated by No. 3 seed The Game, just as his album, LAX (Geffen), was impacting nationwide. In the Pimp C bracket, Lil Wayne, the man who many thought would take home the title, lost to Ludacris, also a No. 3 seed. Unfortunately for The Game and Luda die-hards, Cinderella would not be anyone’s date to the big dance. Jay-Z and Eminem easily beat out Ludacris and Game respectively, setting up a titanic final matchup. In the end, Eminem prevailed in a surprising landslide victory. Despite no proper album releases, since 2004’s, Encore (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), 69 percent of the votes went to Detroit’s native son easily outpacing office favorite Jay-Z’s 31 percent.

“Its obviously an honour to have won the fans’ support by being voted the Best Rapper Alive,” Eminem said in response to his victory. “I don’t think that there is any one rapper that is simply the best though. Everyone who was in consideration and many others are the best at certain things, and at what they do. But since VIBE’s offering the distinction, hell yeah I’ll accept!”
and there could be a party in perang hotel

so just wait theres a party for all of us

But no matter the victor, one thing was clear: The debate about who The Best Rapper Alive is (or is not) lives on. We just might have to do it again next year.
For a complete breakdown of all the matches, go to VIBE.com/bestrapper.

WAY I AM BOOK COMES WITH A DVD
On October 21st, Em is releasing his second book. The Way I Am is a collection of Marshall’s personal stories, reflections, photographs, original artwork, and never before published lyric sheets. In the first printing of the book, there is also a DVD included which contains Em’s personally shot video footage and unreleased interviews.
A couple of my favorite things about the book are the cover and the detachable lyric sheets. The cover is a red acetate film that slides over the traditional book print (similar to Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come CD). The red jacket masks the collage of Em’s handwritten lyrics on top of the underlying photo… you kind of have to see it to really get the effect. Also inside the book in the back are several perforated pages which one can pull out of the book. On these pages are reproductions of Em’s actual lyric sheets for songs like “Stan” and “Lose Yourself”. I fought hard for the book to have the pages detachable because there is something special about being able to hold the actual page in your hand and turn it around and around to decipher what Em’s semi-legible writing is saying. (Somehow he reads right off of the pages with ease and can see the song there). Again, you have to really see the lyric sheets to fully understand what I’m describing.
So, there are two ways to do that! First, of course, you can buy the book when it comes out on 10/21 everywhere in the U.S. Second, you can enter the Sirius Satellite Radio Shade45 contest for the book by clicking here. Grand prize winner will receive a all-expense paid trip to NYC for the book launch event along with other special prizes.

EMINEM IS BACK OFFICIALLY

newsoftheworld.co.uk wrote:HIP hop, yer don’t stop—especially if you’re still SLIM SHADY.That’s right rap fans. Throw ya hands up in the air, and wave ’em like you just don’t care . . . for I can reveal that the Em-pire will strike back this Christmas. After years out of the rap game, the world’s most popular lyrical gangster EMINEM is back and spitting dope rhymes in the studio again.I understand that Slim Shady will stand up in style with a new album called King Mathers.Slim, real name MARSHALL MATHERS III, revealed: “I’m writing and producing again, banging out tracks—and the music just gets better and better.”No doubt, homie . . .The 35-year-old megastar has sold a staggering 80 MILLION records and now his label Interscope Records can’t wait for his new release by the end of the year.My source tells me: “It’s exciting times and, of course, there’s massive expectation surrounding this new record.“But the fans need not worry about its quality. Most of the music’s being mastered at the moment. There’s a real belief the album will go stellar.”The 8 Mile actor has teamed up with fellow hip hop rhymesayer 50 CENT in the studio. I’m told the pair have been spending hour upon hour at the mixing desk in Em’s Detroit home perfecting one of the biggest comebacks since the SPICE GIRLS.“Eminem is out to realise his full potential,” adds my man in the recording suite. “The volume and quality of music he’s producing is prodigious.”It’s good news for the controversial rapper after years of hurt. The star who brought us classics like Way I Am and Stan, confronted an addiction to sleeping pills in 2005.But the doting dad—still embroiled in an ongoing slagging match with mum Debbie Nelson—has revealed that the worst is over and he can finally concentrate on his music, which is great news for his legion of fans.He says: “For a while, I didn’t want to go back to the studio. I went through some bad times but I’m coming out of those. It feels good.”
