Did Eminem Go Too Far With His Mariah Carey Dis Track?

Lyrics of 'The Warning' are a scathing attack on Carey and husband Nick Cannon.

First Eminem wrote a song, "Bagpipes From Baghdad," directed at Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Then she seemed to respond to his track with her own, "Obsessed," although she has denied the song and the video were directed at him.

Now, this week, Eminem has released a scathing dis track, "The Warning," directed at Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, during which he alleges and describes what was his one full sexual encounter with Carey, labels her a "liar" and other ugly names, and threatens to reveal personal pictures and phone messages he has of the singer. (Carey has denied ever having a romantic relationship with Eminem, while he has insisted there was one.)

Eminem has a history of blistering disses, but the song raises the question: Has he taken the feud too far? MTV News headed to Times Square to get fans' opinions on the matter.

"I think Eminem has gone too far on this one," Cherie Gardner said. "Even if it is true, I think that's a bit too far."

Another fan, Heather, agreed that the track is Eminem being Eminem, but perhaps to an extreme level. "I think if he did anything else, it wouldn't be his kind of signature thing," she said. "Although the part about murdering [her], that probably is a little too far."

Meanwhile, Jamie Gilcrest was fluctuating about whether or not the track went too far. "Maybe it is a little inappropriate because he is kind of being an a--hole to her," he said. "But he's just getting his feelings out there, so I think that's pretty cool."

But other fans think that this latest feud is stemming from a financial place, not an authentic place. "The dissing thing back and forth, that's kind of played out," Justin Price said. "You know what I'm saying. Like Jay-Z's beefing with the Game. Everyone's got a beef to sell stuff. Eminem is actually better than that."

Yet Antwone Wright is quick to point out that this beef is a bit different from when two rappers beef. "Obviously it's going to be different than 50 Cent dissing Ja Rule, because I don't think that 50 cent and Ja Rule ever slept together! But you're trying to dis your girlfriend, I think I would consider that acceptable."

Another fan thinks that the track is just Eminem being Eminem. "I don't think he's gone too far. He's Eminem," Katherine Schneeberger said. "That's what he does — be outrageous — so I don't really think it's too far."

South Central rookie will be featured on Dre's Detox, alongside Lil Wayne and T.I., in Mixtape Daily.

We all know Dr. Dre has an ear for beats, but the West Coast superproducer also has a keen sense of recognizing upcoming lyrical talent.

Dre's The Chronic launched Snoop Dogg's career, and his second solo album, 2001, helped solidify Eminem as a serious talent to pay attention to in the game. With his third opus on the way, the good doctor has tapped South Central rookie Slim Da Mobster to contribute to Detox, alongside heavyweights like Lil Wayne and T.I.

"I'm not even focused on my album right now," Slim told us in Los Angeles. "I'm all about his album. 'Cause the better I do on that, the better it is for the situation with my album."

Da Mobster might be new on the scene, but the Los Angeles rhyme-spitter impressed Eminem so much that he pushed to have him ink a deal.

After getting the co-signs from the big homies Dre and Em, 50 Cent was the next to jump onboard behind the young rapper. Now, Slim Da Mobster has his music featured on the G-Unit boss' Web site, ThisIs50.com.

To add to the repertoire, Slim is managed by industry veteran John Monopoly, who helped usher Kanye West from producer to breakthrough artist.

Eminem’s Controversial MJ Outfit Hits the Auction Block

Eminem stans take note.

Earlier today (July 27), several of the rapper's signature items went up for bid online as part of The Rock and Roll Pop Art Auction.

Among the pricey digs is a blood splattered white suit jacket made by Lucelli that Em wore at the photo shoot for his 2004 album Encore. Also hitting the auction block for a minimum bid of $1,000 is one of the rap superstar's black Nike Air sweatsuits.

The most interesting and expensive item up for sale is the Michael Jackson outfit Em sported in his controversial 2004 video for "Just Lose It." The Detroit MC caught a lot of flack for poking fun of Jackson in the clip, with the King of Pop himself even calling into the Steve Harvey radio show to voice his displeasure with the spoof, calling it "outrageous and disrespectful." BET eventually banned the video from the network. The minimum bid on the getup-which includes a red sequined jacket and white glove, as well as a black hat, pants and shoes-is $6,000.

Legendary hip-hop group Run-D.M.C. also have an item up for sale. Bids on their "Raising Hell" T-shirt start at $25.

Eminem has ‘nasty’ surprise for Mariah Carey says 50 Cent

It began with ‘Bagpipes from Baghdad’. Mariah Carey isn’t the only celeb that Eminem took a shot at but she still was damn mad and so was her hubby, Nick Cannon. Eminem claimed to have been having sex with Mariah and demanded her back.

Mariah wasn’t impressed and finally hit back with the song ‘Obsessed’ where it was her chance to get hers back at Eminem. And she did along with a video clip that had her in drag and looking suspiciously like she might be at least trying to look like Eminem.

Now it’s Eminem who has the right of reply and according to some Mariah should be real worried.

‘No one does offensive like Eminem and I don’t wanna know what he might have in store for her lyrically or in the visual….it’s going to be a nasty surprise’ commented rapper 50 Cent who is part of rap group G-Unit.

50 cent talks joint album with EM

50 Cent has told MTV News that he’d love to record an album of duets with his mate Eminem.
The superstar rappers have worked together on many occasions previously but never on a full disc.

Asked by our US team about the possibility of a collaborative album, Fiddy revealed: “I'd love to. We haven't [seriously] discussed making an album together, 'cause we would have to sit collectively and create each song."

He continued: "Unless we was doing something where half of it was his and half of it was mine. And conceptually, maybe if he came up with the first six songs and I built the last six songs and we just featured on each other's records, you know what I mean? We'd do that in a heartbeat."

Eminem's brother set to enter plea on drunken driving charge

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The younger brother of rapper Eminem has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in a drunken driving case in Macomb County.

Twenty-three-year-old Nathan Mathers avoided a bench trial Thursday in district court in Shelby Township by agreeing to plead guilty to operating while impaired, second offence, at his Aug. 26 sentencing.

Police say the Clinton Township man failed to pull over for an ambulance before failing sobriety tests April 15 in Macomb Township. Police say his blood-alcohol level was 0.16, twice the legal limit.

Nathan Mathers, who raps as Nate Kane, is the brother of Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem.

A message seeking comment was left Thursday for defence attorney Cecil St. Pierre.

Eminem In Mark Walhberg Boxing Movie?

Grammy-Award-Winning rapper and Oscar-Winning Actor (for his music that is), Eminem, is reportedly being considered to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in an upcoming boxing movie. "We were supposed to do this boxing movie together," Wahlberg told DJ Whoo Kid about fellow actor Matt Damon. "We were going to play brothers and I don't think he's really feeling up to it so maybe we'll get Eminem to play the part. It's because we want two guys with some real edge and I think he was attached to play one of the parts at one point. Me and him actually talked on the phone while I was in Philly making another movie so um, either that or my brother. There's not too many people that can be believed in as being brothers, maybe half brothers but still, these guys had a really hard life. We want it to kinda feel authentic as opposed to getting some soft Hollywood act."

In related news, Eminem will be making an appearance in the upcoming "Funny People" movie staring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. "Marshall Mathers is in it," director Judd Apatow said in an interview. "I still don't know I was scared to pitch jokes to him then I realized his songs are as nasty as anything that has ever been spoken. There is no way to offend him."

The Alchemist Talks about Eminem And Exclusive New 'Relapse 2' Material

Now most hip-hop fans are familiar with The Alchemist. They know his catalogue of highly sought-after beats, and they know his role as Eminem’s trustworthy DJ. But do they know how he became Em’s DJ? Or what took so long for a producer of his caliber to even get a chance to work with Slim Shady on a full track?

He recently did an interview with AllHip-Hop.com and here's the part where talks about Eminem.

AllHipHop.com: Going back to Eminem, you just confirmed that he laced a full track with you. Can fans expect an Alchemist-produced track on the next Eminem album?

Alchemist: Anything can happen, man. The relationship is getting much better.

AllHipHop.com: A lot better than that time when the car accident occurred few years ago?

Alchemist: I mean at the time, I was just his DJ and he was under the influence of so many drugs, man. He doesn’t even remember that I was out there with him. When the fans heard I was linking up with Em they’re thinking, “They’ll be making music together.” Not Alchemist going out there doing funky scratches. At the time, there was too much s*** going on for him that he didn’t realize, “Yo, I got Alchemist on my team. That’s a fully loaded gun on my belt alongside other heaters.”

AllHipHop.com: Did you think that you were going to make music?

Alchemist: Part of the reason I got in the camp was because I knew the protocols. I knew Em before he blew up because of Paul [Eminem’s manager]. I’ve seen the whole shit even without being in the whole circle. I think that was also one of the reasons like, “Oh, Al’s not going to be hawking Em with beats.” The whole year I was on tour with him, I never did that once because I knew how to play my cards. Now that Em’s sober, he’s asking me more now.

AllHipHop.com: Right, but I also heard that Em only likes to rap over either his own beats or Dre’s beats.

Alchemist: Yea, because he doesn’t need more usually. You have unlimited Dre beats, and your own beats. What more beats do you need? Their relationship is ill because it seems like it’s gotten better.

AllHipHop.com: Really?

Alchemist: Yea. It seems like once Em sobered up and Dre realized it he was like, “You want to go? Let’s go!” For six months Dre was out there. It was like six dudes---Mark Batson, Dawaun Parker---his whole clique of guys. And I wasn’t out there, but from the stories Em told me it sounded great. Now that his head is straight his rhymes aren’t straight. He is making the most psychotic s***s I’ve ever heard. He has a song on Relapse 2 that’s so crazy. You know “Underground?”

AllHipHop.com: Yea.

Alchemist: It takes off where that stops and obliterates that. He rhymes in his regular voice…I’m afraid because the rhymes might slip out of my mouth. [Laughs.] Put it this way, there’s a song called “Insult to Injury.”

AllHipHop.com: You said it.

Michael Jackson continues to be the King of... the sales charts. Last week Jackson had nine albums in the top 50 with three in the top 10, grabbing the number one spot with close to 107 thousand copies, well this week he out did that. Jackson had 4 albums in the top 11 with MJ's "Number Ones" album selling close to 340 thousand copies last week. As the top selling rapper, Eminem dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since its release while Ace Hood debuted in 26th with Maino close behind in 32nd. Wu-Tang rounds out the top 50 this week as their "Chamber Music" makes it way onto the charts with just over ten-thousand copies scanned.

On the R&B tip, Def Jam's Jeremih broke onto the charts debuting in 9th while Beyonce actually moves 2% more albums but dropped 6 spots to 37th. Ginuwine moved down 36 spots plus Keri Hilson sales another 11,123 copies of her "In A Perfect World" album

Eminem Pays Homage To His 'Beautiful' City

Eminem puts his controversial antics on the back-burner for the fourth single from his "Relapse" album which has already sold more than 1 million copies since its May 19 release.

The video for his new record "Beautiful" spotlights his hometown of Detroit. It opens with a historical statement about the Michigan's national ranking during an economic peak.

"In 1950, Michigan was 1 of 8 states in America that collectively produced 36% of the world's GNP," the text read.

On a second screen the message continued, "Detroit was the greatest manufacturing city in the world."

The 4-minute clip shows Eminem walking through various Michigan landmarks that once thrived but are now impoverished--Beaux-Arts train station (Michigan Central Station), the original Tiger Stadium, and the former Packard Motor Car Company plant. Each of the now dilapidated structures were built prior to 1914.

Ironically, the song lyrics are not about Detroit, but Eminem's battles with depression during his bout with an addiction for which he sought rehabilitation. He raps, "I don't know how or why or when, I ended up in this position I'm in."

In a statement released via his label, Eminem said that after overcoming his trials, he realized that the song could also be used as a metaphor.

"Tiger Stadium is being torn down, and the train station is supposed to be demolished too," Eminem said. "This video is one of the last times anybody outside of Detroit is going to see them."

Eminem added, "['Beautiful'] is a reminder to keep your head up, and to see who you really are despite what you may be going through. Now that I've gotten through the toughest part, I see how the song relates to Detroit, and it feels even more powerful."

B.o.B On Name Changes, Collabos With Eminem

Real Spit: No matter who wins in B.o.B vs. Bobby Ray, the artist who is known by both names insists neither one will die — they will simply merge. His debut, once known as The Adventures of B.o.B, will now be named The Adventures of Bobby Ray.

"I'm merging the B.o.B element to what I'm doing now," Bob told us recently in Atlanta.

The album still doesn't have a release date, but Bobby is keeping busy, playing on the road and dropping mixtapes. We broke the news of Bob's musical evolution and moniker switch a few months back.

"The mixtape really comes from just the obvious idea of during this transition — musically, name-wise, style, everything — to do a mixtape where you compare and contrast what's the difference, and emphasize the direction I'm going in. I feel really good about it. I feel like it's an album. There's a lot of music we're putting on there — 18 songs. We're doing two versions. One version with no DJ drops — it's set up like a two-sided album — and then we have one with DJ Don Cannon and DJ Green Lantern where they mix it up DJ style."

Bob says the growth into Bobby Ray is all about his coming of age.

"The difference between B.o.B and Bobby Ray is ... when I was signed under B.o.B, I was really young and didn't understand the type of business I was getting into," he explained. "[I didn't understand] how free I could be with the music. I felt like I had to play this person, play this certain character — talk a certain way, dress a certain way, rap a certain way. Now that I look back on it, I don't really feel that way. I don't really believe it. I wouldn't do that now. I wanted to break away from that and not box myself in. Bobby Ray isn't a character — he's really me. At the same time, it's so different, it's like a snake shedding its skin. Shed the old and onto something new. When I feel that's had its run, I don't think I'll do another name-change, but you're constantly evolving and that's where the inspiration from that came from. ... Moving forward, I'll officially be Bobby Ray."

Bobby Ray/B.o.B recently met with Eminem and Slim Shady in the studio, where the artists collaborated on a couple of tracks.

"We were in the studio ... we actually made a couple of productions, orchestrations," he said. "I'm real excited to see how people feel about it. For me it's a dream come true."

Eminem Becomes One Of The "Funny People"

Eminem will return to the big screen when he makes an appearance in the upcoming "Funny People" movie. Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin) is directing the new film that stars a never ending list of top comedians like Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jason Schwartzman and even Jonah Hill. Sandler plays George Simmons, a comedian who learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition which causes him desire to form a genuine friendship. Sandler takes a relatively green performer (Seth Rogen) under his wing as his opening act.

"No. Marshall Mathers is in it," Apatow said when asked if Eminem was in the film. When asked how it was to direct the "8 Mile" star, Apatow said "I was scared to pitch jokes to him then I realized his songs are as nasty as anything that has ever been spoken. There is no way to offend him."
